Write a project brief to find the right freelancer
A tight freelancer brief with scope, deliverables, budget, and screening questions, so quotes are accurate and comparable.
The prompt
Write a project brief I can post or send to freelancers so I get accurate quotes from the right people. This is step 1 of the 'Hire and work with a freelancer' pack.
What I need done: [PROJECT - e.g. "redesign our 5-page website"]
Why, and what success looks like: [GOAL and how I'll measure it]
Deliverables I expect: [LIST, with formats]
What I'll provide: [assets, access, content, feedback time]
Deadline and key dates: [DATES]
Budget range: [RANGE, or 'help me work it out']
Skills or experience that matter: [LIST]
Return:
1. A brief under 400 words: background, goal, scope, deliverables, out of scope, timeline, budget, how to apply, and what to include in a proposal (relevant examples, approach, quote, availability).
2. A scope check: anything vague that will lead to scope creep or mismatched quotes, and how to tighten it.
3. Whether to use fixed price, hourly, or milestone payments for this project, and why.
4. 3 screening questions to include so proposals are easy to compare.
5. Where to find freelancers for this kind of work (types of platforms, communities, referrals).
Don't assume market rates. If I asked for help with budget, give me a way to check typical rates rather than made-up numbers.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
