Define the outcomes a new hire must deliver in their first year
A one-page success profile with measurable first-year outcomes and the competencies behind them, to anchor every hiring step.
The prompt
Help me define what success looks like for a role before I write a job post or interview anyone. This is step 1 of the 'Run a structured hiring process' pack.
Role title and team: [DETAILS]
Why this role exists now: [the problem or goal - e.g. "our customer onboarding backlog is 6 weeks"]
What's happening without this person: [IMPACT]
Who they'll work with most: [ROLES]
Level and budget range: [DETAILS]
Produce a success profile:
1. The mission of the role in one sentence.
2. 3-5 outcomes for the first 12 months, each measurable or observable, with what should be done by 30, 90, and 365 days.
3. The 4-6 competencies needed to deliver those outcomes, each defined in a sentence with what it looks like at this level. Separate must-have-on-day-one from can-learn-on-the-job.
4. Requirements to challenge: any credentials, years of experience, or 'culture fit' criteria in my inputs that don't clearly link to an outcome, with a fairer alternative for each.
5. 2-3 deal-breakers, stated as behaviors, not personality traits.
Flag where my inputs are too vague to set a real outcome and ask me for the missing number. Don't invent metrics; use [ADD BASELINE] where needed. Keep it to one page so interviewers can use it as the reference for every later step.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
