Write a guide for my new hire's onboarding buddy
A one-to-two page guide telling a buddy what to do week by week, what to share, and what to escalate.
The prompt
Write a short guide for the colleague who will be my new hire's onboarding buddy. This is step 3 of the 'Onboard a new hire' pack; paste the 30-60-90 goals from step 2 if useful.
Buddy's role and how long they've been here: [DETAILS]
New hire's role and start date: [DETAILS]
Work setup: [on-site / hybrid / remote]
Time the buddy can give: [e.g. "2 hours a week for 6 weeks"]
Things new people usually struggle with here: [LIST]
Earlier step output (optional): [PASTE]
The guide should cover:
1. What a buddy is (the go-to person for small questions, unwritten norms, and introductions) and isn't (not their manager, not responsible for their performance).
2. A week-by-week plan for the buddy period with suggested activities: lunch or virtual coffee, shadowing, a tour of the tools, introductions.
3. 10 'unwritten rules' prompts for the buddy to fill in (e.g. how decisions really get made, where to ask questions, meeting habits).
4. What to escalate to me (signs the new hire is struggling, overloaded, or isolated) and what to keep in confidence.
5. A short message the buddy can send to introduce themselves before day one.
Keep it to one or two pages and friendly in tone. Remind me to recognize the buddy's time, because it's real work.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
