The prompt

Turn my team's updates into a weekly project status report with RAG ratings. Project name and goal: [ONE LINE] This week's updates: [PASTE emails, Teams or Slack messages, stand-up notes, tracker exports] Plan baseline: [KEY MILESTONES and dates, budget if tracked] Last week's status: [PASTE, if available, so you can show changes] Readers: [team / sponsor / steering committee] Use these RAG rules unless I give my own: - Green: on track for the next milestone and the end date; no help needed. - Amber: at risk; a recovery action exists and is in hand. - Red: will miss a milestone, budget, or scope commitment without a decision or help from above. Rate overall status and each of: schedule, scope, budget, resources, risks. Don't let a good mood in the updates override the facts: if a milestone date has moved, schedule can't be green. Return: 1. Headline: overall RAG plus one sentence on why. 2. Table: Area | RAG | Change vs last week (up/down/same) | Reason. 3. Done this week (3-6 bullets, outcomes not activity). 4. Next week (3-6 bullets with owners). 5. Top risks and issues: what, impact, owner, action, due date. 6. Decisions or help needed, with who must act and by when. Keep it under 350 words. Flag any update that contradicts another, and any missing workstream, as [CHECK]. Don't invent progress, numbers, or dates.

Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built

This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
