Build a one-page project dashboard for executives in Excel or PowerPoint
Designs a one-page project dashboard with the right KPIs, RAG indicators, and layout, built from your project data.
The prompt
Help me turn my project information into a one-page dashboard for executives.
Project data: [PASTE the tracker, status reports, milestone list, budget figures, risk log]
Who reads it and what they decide: [e.g. "COO, decides on funding and priority each month"]
Format: [Excel / PowerPoint slide / Power BI or Tableau]
Update frequency: [weekly / monthly]
Steps:
1. Pick 5-7 measures that answer: Are we on time? On budget? Delivering the scope? What could hurt us? What do you need from me? Typical choices: milestone status, schedule variance, budget spent vs plan, forecast at completion, scope change count, open high risks, decisions pending.
2. For each measure, say exactly how to calculate it from my data and what threshold turns it amber or red.
3. Lay out the page: headline and overall RAG at the top, then key measures, a milestone strip, top 3 risks, and "decisions needed".
Return:
1. The measure list: Measure | Formula or source | Green / amber / red threshold | Why an executive cares.
2. The page layout, section by section, with what goes where.
3. This period's values filled in from my data. Anything you can't calculate stays as [ADD DATA].
4. For Excel: the sheet structure, key formulas, and which chart to use for each measure. For PowerPoint: the slide layout and a headline that states the takeaway.
5. 3 things to leave off the page and why.
Use only numbers from my data. Keep the page readable in under one minute.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
