Analyze my competitors
Competitor positioning, offers, strengths, weaknesses, and the gaps you can win.
The prompt
Role: Act as a product marketing manager benchmarking against key competitors.
Context: Our product and target segment: [PRODUCT_SEGMENT]. Competitors in scope: [COMPETITORS]. Buyer decision criteria and their weight: [DECISION_CRITERIA]. What we know about each competitor (features, pricing model, positioning, strengths, weaknesses): [COMPETITOR_INFO]. Evidence sources: [SOURCES]. Where we win / lose deals today: [WIN_LOSS].
Task: Produce: a benchmarking matrix (criteria x competitor, with a rating and a note); a positioning read - how each competitor is positioned and where the gaps in the market are; our genuine advantages and our real disadvantages on the criteria that carry weight; and 3 implications for product and 3 for messaging.
Format: Sections: Benchmarking matrix (table) | Positioning read | Our advantages / disadvantages | Implications (product / messaging). ~500 words.
Verification: Distinguish verified competitor facts from inference; do not overstate our advantages beyond the evidence or the win/loss data. Flag stale information.
Validation: Sanity-check the advantages against recent losses: if we are so strong on X, why did we lose deals where X mattered? Reconcile or soften the claim.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RCTFVV structure (Role, Context, Task, Format, Verification, Validation). RCTFVV extends RCTF with two checking steps. Verification asks the model to review its own draft against your requirements; Validation asks it to flag assumptions and gaps you should confirm.
