Write an onboarding email sequence for a new customer's users
A 30-day email sequence that gets new users from first login to regular use of the features that matter.
The prompt
Write an onboarding email sequence for users at a newly signed customer.
Product and what it does: [DESCRIPTION]
Who the users are: [ROLES, technical comfort, how they'll use it day to day]
The 3-4 actions that predict long-term use: [e.g. "connect calendar", "create first project", "invite a teammate"]
Resources available: [help center, videos, webinars, office hours, CSM contact]
Who sends the emails: [me as CSM / their internal admin / the product]
Customer's goal for rollout: [e.g. "all 150 reps active by end of month"]
Create 5-7 emails across the first 30 days. For each:
- Send day and trigger (time-based, or based on an action taken/not taken)
- Subject line (and one alternative)
- Body under 120 words, focused on one action, with a clear link or button text
- What to send instead if the user already did this step
Also include:
1. A short note for the customer's admin or champion to send internally, so the emails come with internal backing.
2. A check-in email to the champion at day 30 summarizing adoption, with [ADD METRIC] placeholders.
3. Which metrics to watch to know if the sequence is working.
Keep it practical: no feature tours, no hype. Each email should help them get something done.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
