Synthesize customer or user research
Turns interviews, notes, and observations into themes, insights, and opportunities.
The prompt
Role: Act as a product manager synthesising customer and market research.
Context: Research question / decision this informs: [RESEARCH_QUESTION]. Inputs provided (interview notes, survey results, support tickets, sales feedback, market data): [INPUTS]. Segments to distinguish: [SEGMENTS]. What we currently believe: [CURRENT_BELIEFS]. Constraints on what we can act on: [CONSTRAINTS].
Task: Produce: (1) 4-6 cross-cutting themes, each with the supporting evidence (which inputs, how many, representative quotes) and its strength; (2) where segments differ; (3) findings that contradict our current beliefs; (4) the 3 most decision-relevant insights and the product implication of each; (5) what we still do not know and how to find out.
Format: Sections: Themes (evidence-weighted) | Segment differences | Belief challenges | Decision-relevant insights & implications | Open questions. ~500 words.
Verification: Attribute every theme to specific inputs and note sample size; separate what the evidence shows from your interpretation. Do not generalise from one or two data points.
Validation: Test the top insight against a colleague who ran the interviews: does it match what they heard, or is it over-reaching? Adjust.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RCTFVV structure (Role, Context, Task, Format, Verification, Validation). RCTFVV extends RCTF with two checking steps. Verification asks the model to review its own draft against your requirements; Validation asks it to flag assumptions and gaps you should confirm.
