The prompt

Role: Act as a product manager doing continuous discovery with an opportunity solution tree. Context: Target outcome / metric to move: [OUTCOME_METRIC]. What we know about the current experience and its gaps (from research): [RESEARCH]. Constraints: [CONSTRAINTS]. Existing solution ideas on the table: [EXISTING_IDEAS]. Segments in focus: [SEGMENTS]. Task: Produce: the target outcome at the top; 4-6 distinct opportunities (unmet needs / pain points / desires) framed from the customer's perspective, each grounded in the research; a prioritisation of opportunities by impact on the outcome and how well-evidenced they are; 2-3 solution ideas per top opportunity; and, for the leading solution, the riskiest assumption and a small test to check it. Format: A tree (outcome -> opportunities -> solutions), then: opportunity prioritisation | riskiest assumptions & tests. Verification: Ensure opportunities are needs, not solutions in disguise, and each is tied to research evidence; flag any that are assumptions. Validation: Check the top opportunity against the outcome: if we fully solved it, would the metric actually move? If not, reframe or re-prioritise.

How this prompt is built

This prompt follows the RCTFVV structure (Role, Context, Task, Format, Verification, Validation). RCTFVV extends RCTF with two checking steps. Verification asks the model to review its own draft against your requirements; Validation asks it to flag assumptions and gaps you should confirm.
