Plan the knowledge transfer before my engagement ends
A handover plan that lets the client's team run what I built after I leave, with documentation, training, and a support period.
The prompt
Help me plan the knowledge transfer to a client's team before my engagement ends.
What I built or ran for them: [systems, processes, campaigns, models, reports]
Who takes it over: [ROLES and their current skill level]
Engagement end date: [DATE]
What only I know right now: [undocumented steps, logins, vendor contacts, workarounds]
Post-engagement support agreed: [e.g. "2 weeks of email support", or "none"]
Create:
1. An inventory of everything to hand over: assets, documents, access, recurring tasks, relationships, and open issues.
2. A transfer schedule working back from the end date: shadowing (they watch me), reverse shadowing (I watch them), then independent operation, with checkpoints.
3. A documentation plan: which runbooks, how-to guides, or decision logs to write, in what format, and the most important ones to write first.
4. A readiness checklist for each person taking over, with specific tasks they must perform successfully before I step away.
5. An access handover plan: transfer ownership of accounts to the client and remove my own access, with credentials handled through their password manager, never by email.
6. A closing message to the client sponsor summarizing what's been handed over, what remains open, and how post-engagement support works.
Flag single points of failure where only one client person would know how to do something.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
