Create a quality inspection checklist for a product or service
A practical inspection checklist with clear pass/fail criteria, sampling guidance, and what to do when something fails.
The prompt
Help me create a quality inspection checklist.
What's being inspected: [e.g. "incoming pallets", "finished units before shipping", "completed field service job", "hotel room after cleaning"]
Specifications or standards: [PASTE SPECS, DRAWINGS, CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS, OR DESCRIBE]
Common defects or complaints: [WHAT GOES WRONG]
Who inspects and how much time they have: [ROLE, MINUTES PER CHECK]
Volume: [units per day/shift]
Build:
1. A checklist of 10-20 items in the order the inspector would naturally check them. For each: what to check | how (look, measure, test) | pass criteria with tolerances or a clear description | tool needed.
2. Critical vs. minor items: which failures stop shipment or need immediate escalation.
3. Sampling: how many to check and how often, and when to tighten sampling (after a failure, new supplier, new operator).
4. What to do on a fail: quarantine, label, record, notify, and who decides on rework or reject.
5. A recording format so results can be trended later.
6. Ideas for visual aids (photos of good vs. bad) for the hardest-to-judge items.
Use the specs I give; where a tolerance or criterion is missing, mark [DEFINE SPEC] instead of guessing. For regulated products, align with the applicable standard and our quality system.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
