Write an enhanced due diligence memo for a high-risk customer
A documented EDD assessment covering ownership, source of wealth, expected activity, risk rating, and an onboard or exit recommendation.
The prompt
Help me write an enhanced due diligence (EDD) memo for a customer our onboarding rules flagged as high risk.
Customer type: [individual / business / trust / non-bank financial institution]
Why EDD was triggered: [e.g. "politically exposed person", "high-risk jurisdiction", "cash-intensive business", "money services business", "complex ownership"]
Ownership and control: [beneficial owners, percentages, controlling persons - as placeholders]
Source of funds and source of wealth: [what the customer stated and what documents support it]
Expected activity: [products, monthly volumes, cash, wires, countries]
Screening results: [sanctions, PEP, adverse media hits and how each was resolved]
Our risk-rating methodology: [factors and scores, if we use one]
Structure the memo:
1. Summary and recommendation: onboard / onboard with conditions / decline or exit, in 3 sentences.
2. Customer profile and nature of the business relationship.
3. Ownership structure, with any gaps in identifying beneficial owners.
4. Source of funds and source of wealth: what is verified, what is only stated, and whether it is plausible.
5. Screening results and their dispositions.
6. Risk rating: each factor, its score or rating, and the overall rating.
7. Conditions and controls: activity limits, review frequency, monitoring rules, senior management approval needed.
8. Open items with owners.
Clearly separate verified facts from customer statements. Do not invent information; mark missing items [CONFIRM]. Follow our institution's AML policy where it differs from this structure.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
