Run a final walkthrough and punch list before the last payment
A room-specific inspection checklist, a clear punch list for the contractor, and the paperwork to collect before you pay in full.
The prompt
Help me do a final walkthrough of my renovation before I make the last payment. This is step 5 of renovating my kitchen or bathroom.
Room and scope (from earlier steps, if I have them): [PASTE SUMMARY or selections list]
Final payment amount and contract terms for completion: [DETAILS]
Issues I've already noticed: [LIST]
Inspections passed: [which ones, or "not sure"]
Give me:
1. A walkthrough checklist for this room, to do in daylight with all lights on:
- Kitchen: cabinet doors and drawers align and close, counters level with clean seams, backsplash grout and caulk, sink and faucet with no leaks underneath, disposal and dishwasher run a full cycle, appliances installed and working, outlets and GFCI protection, lighting, range hood vented properly.
- Bathroom: shower and tub tested for leaks and drainage, grout and caulk complete, tile flat with no hollow sounds, toilet secure, fan vents outside and is quiet, hot water reaches all fixtures, outlets protected, mirror and accessories secure.
- Both: paint touch-ups, trim, flooring transitions, matches my selections list, site cleaned, debris removed.
2. A punch list template: # | Location | Issue | Photo taken | Agreed fix date | Done.
3. Paperwork to collect: final permit sign-off, warranties and manuals, product names and paint colors, lien releases where they apply [CONFIRM local rules], and receipts.
4. A polite message to the contractor listing the punch items and the completion date before final payment, per our contract.
Return the checklist, the template, the paperwork list, and the message.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
