Respond to auditor findings with a remediation plan
A management response for each audit finding with root cause, corrective actions, owners, and deadlines.
The prompt
Help me respond to findings from an external or internal audit.
Findings: [PASTE each finding: description, risk rating, recommendation]
Context for each: [what happened, why, what has already been done]
Resources and constraints: [team capacity, system limitations, budget]
Who receives the response: [auditors / audit committee / management]
For each finding:
1. Restate it neutrally and confirm whether management agrees, partly agrees, or disagrees, with a factual reason.
2. Identify the root cause (people, process, system, or design gap), not just the symptom.
3. Propose corrective actions that address the root cause, including any control to prevent recurrence.
4. Set an owner, a realistic deadline, and the evidence that will show it is fixed.
Return:
- A management response for each finding, ready to paste (under 150 words each).
- A remediation tracker: # | Finding | Rating | Root cause | Action | Owner | Due date | Evidence of completion | Status.
- A short cover note for the audit committee summarizing themes and priority.
- Any findings where I should push back, with the facts I would need.
Do not overstate what has been done; use [CONFIRM] where status is unclear. Be candid, as responses are often reviewed by regulators and boards.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
