Plan the renovation schedule and how we'll live through it
A phase-by-phase schedule with inspections and order deadlines, plus a plan for daily life without a working kitchen or bathroom.
The prompt
Help me plan the renovation schedule and how my household will cope during it. This is step 3 of renovating my kitchen or bathroom.
Room and scope (from steps 1-2, if I have them): [PASTE]
Contractor's proposed start date and length: [DETAILS, or "not hired yet"]
Household: [people, ages, pets, work from home?]
Other kitchens or bathrooms in the home: [e.g. "only one bathroom"]
Fixed dates to work around: [holidays, guests, travel]
Give me:
1. A phase-by-phase schedule: demolition, rough plumbing and electrical, inspections, insulation and drywall, cabinets, counters (measuring often happens after cabinets go in), tile, fixtures, final inspection, punch list. Show where delays usually happen and which phases depend on materials arriving.
2. A list of my own deadlines: decisions, orders, and payments the contractor needs from me, and when.
3. For a kitchen: a temporary kitchen setup (where, what appliances, no-cook and one-pot meal ideas, dishwashing plan). For a bathroom: options if it's our only one (gym, neighbors, a short-term rental for the worst days).
4. A plan for dust, noise, pets, kids' safety, and protecting floors and other rooms.
5. Questions to settle with the contractor before day 1: working hours, daily cleanup, where materials are stored, who pulls permits, and how we'll communicate.
Return the schedule as a table (Week | Phase | My tasks | Risks) plus the living-through-it plan. Next step: track costs and changes during the work.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
