Get my online store ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday
A week-by-week BFCM readiness checklist covering inventory, site, offers, fulfillment, and support, plus a run sheet for event days.
The prompt
Build a Black Friday / Cyber Monday (BFCM) readiness plan for my online store.
Store setup: [PLATFORM, KEY APPS, 3PL OR SELF-FULFILLED]
Last year's peak: [PEAK ORDERS PER HOUR, DAILY ORDERS, WHAT WENT WRONG]
This year's plan: [SALES TARGET, OFFERS, START AND END DATES, CHANNELS]
Inventory on promoted SKUs: [UNITS ON HAND, INBOUND DATES]
Team: [WHO OWNS marketing, site, fulfillment, support]
Organize the plan by weeks out (8, 6, 4, 2, 1 week, event days, week after), covering:
- Inventory: buy and inbound deadlines, oversell protection, backorder rules, what to do when a hero SKU sells out.
- Site: code freeze date, speed and load checks, discount logic tested (stacking, exclusions, minimums), test orders on every payment method, fraud-rule thresholds.
- Offers and pricing: promo calendar, early access for subscribers, honest reference prices, clear terms.
- Marketing: email and SMS send schedule that respects consent and quiet-hours rules, paid media budgets and caps, creative deadlines.
- Fulfillment: carrier capacity and pickup times, holiday shipping cutoff dates [CONFIRM with each carrier], packing staffing, forecast shared with the 3PL.
- Support: staffing by hour, macros for order status and discount problems, escalation path.
- War room: live dashboard (orders per hour, conversion, AOV, top-SKU stock, error rates), who can pause a promotion, rollback plan.
Return:
1. The timeline as a checklist with owners.
2. A risk list with mitigations.
3. A one-page run sheet for the event days.
Work backward from my event dates. Do not invent capacity figures, carrier cutoffs, or targets; mark anything I haven't given [ADD] or [CONFIRM]. Any "was" price or countdown must be genuine.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
