Explain a strategy pivot to employees, customers, and investors
A coordinated communication plan and drafts for each audience when the company changes direction.
The prompt
Help me communicate a major change in company direction.
The change: [e.g. "moving from SMB to enterprise", "shutting down a product line", "new business model"]
Why we're doing it: [THE EVIDENCE and reasoning]
What stays the same: [mission, products, commitments]
Who is affected and how: [teams, roles, customers, partners]
Timeline: [key dates]
Concerns I expect: [by audience]
Build:
1. A sequencing plan: who hears first (board, leadership, affected employees, all employees, key customers, everyone else), in what order and how close together, to avoid leaks and second-hand news.
2. A core narrative everyone uses: what's changing, why, what it means, and what we're not changing. Under 150 words.
3. Drafts for each audience:
- All-employee message or all-hands talking points.
- Manager FAQ so leaders can answer questions consistently.
- Customer email (separate versions for affected and unaffected customers).
- Investor or board update.
4. A list of commitments I can make honestly, and ones I must avoid.
5. A plan for the first two weeks after the announcement: listening sessions, metrics to watch, and how to correct misunderstandings.
Write in plain, direct language. Don't frame bad news for some groups as only positive. Mark any detail I haven't confirmed as [CONFIRM]. If roles are eliminated, check timing and wording with HR and employment counsel.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
