Write a query letter and synopsis to pitch my novel to agents
A tight query letter and a one-page synopsis that follow agent conventions and show your book's hook.
The prompt
Help me write a query letter and synopsis for my finished novel.
Title, genre, and word count: [e.g. "The Salt House, upmarket women's fiction, 85,000 words"]
Main character, what they want, and what stands in the way: [DETAILS]
What happens (including the ending): [FULL PLOT SUMMARY]
What makes it different: [setting, structure, voice, angle]
Comparable recent books (published in the last ~5 years): [2 TITLES, or ask me for ideas]
About me: [relevant writing credits, background tied to the book, or "none yet"]
Agent's name and why I chose them: [OPTIONAL]
Query letter (250-350 words):
1. Hook paragraph: character, desire, conflict, stakes in the voice of the book. Do not reveal the ending.
2. Book details: title, genre, word count, comps.
3. Short bio: only what's relevant; it's fine if it's one line.
4. Polite close.
Avoid: rhetorical questions, calling the book "the next bestseller", themes stated instead of shown, too many character names (aim for 2-3).
Synopsis (one page, about 500 words): present tense, third person, the whole plot including the ending, main character's emotional arc, only key characters in CAPS on first mention.
Also give me: 3 alternative hook lines, and a checklist of things to confirm in each agent's submission guidelines. Do not invent credits or comps; mark anything missing as [ADD].
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
