Get past writer's block on my story or poem
Finds what's actually blocking you and gives small, specific moves to start writing again today.
The prompt
Help me get unstuck on a piece of creative writing.
What I'm writing: [e.g. "a short story about my grandmother's farm", "a fantasy novel, chapter 9", "a poem about moving cities"]
Where I'm stuck: [e.g. "I can't start", "I don't know what happens next", "everything I write feels flat"]
What I have so far: [PASTE THE LAST PAGE OR A SHORT SUMMARY]
How long I've been stuck: [days / weeks / months]
Time I can give it: [e.g. "20 minutes a day"]
First, ask me up to 3 short questions if you need them to tell which kind of block this is: not knowing what happens next, fear the writing isn't good enough, lost interest, too many ideas, or simple tiredness and routine.
Then give me:
1. Your best guess at the real cause, in two sentences.
2. Five small exercises matched to that cause, each doable in 10-20 minutes (e.g. write the scene badly on purpose, write it from another character's view, list 10 things that could go wrong next).
3. Three "what if" questions specific to my story or poem to restart my imagination.
4. One tiny goal for today and one for this week.
Rules: do not write the piece for me. Keep your ideas as options, not instructions, so the work stays mine. Be encouraging but practical.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
