The prompt
Help me write the disposition narrative for an AML or sanctions screening alert.
Alert type: [transaction monitoring scenario / sanctions name match / adverse media / PEP match]
Alert details: [WHAT triggered it - rule, amounts, dates, counterparties, match score]
Customer profile: [type, occupation or business, expected activity, risk rating, time as customer]
What I reviewed: [KYC file, transaction history, open-source searches, prior alerts, any customer contact]
What I found: [FACTS]
My proposed decision: [close as false positive / close - explained activity / escalate for investigation / recommend suspicious activity report consideration / true sanctions match]
Our procedure's required elements: [PASTE or "standard"]
Draft a narrative that covers:
1. Why the alert fired, in one sentence.
2. Customer background relevant to the activity.
3. Each review step and what it showed, with dates and sources.
4. For name matches: the identifiers compared (name, date of birth, nationality, address, ID number) and why it is or is not the same person or entity.
5. Analysis - whether the activity fits the customer's known profile and stated purpose, and any red flags or mitigating facts.
6. Decision and rationale, plus any follow-up (e.g. KYC refresh, risk rating change).
Rules: factual and specific, no unsupported assumptions such as "seems legitimate". Mark missing information [OBTAIN]. Never include anything that could tip off the customer in customer-facing communication. Follow your institution's procedures and escalate when in doubt.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
