Remove sensitive information before pasting into AI
Finds and replaces personal, confidential, and secret data with safe placeholders.
The prompt
Before I use this text with an AI tool, help me remove sensitive information.
Text:
[PASTE — if the text is highly confidential, use a tool your organization has approved for this]
Find and replace with consistent placeholders (e.g. [PERSON_1], [COMPANY_A], [EMAIL_1]):
- Names of people, companies, and clients
- Emails, phone numbers, addresses, ID numbers
- Account, card, and bank numbers; passwords, API keys, tokens
- Health, financial, or legal details about identifiable people
- Confidential business information I flag: [e.g. deal values, product codenames]
Return:
1. The redacted text.
2. A mapping table (placeholder → what it replaced) for me to keep privately.
3. Anything borderline that I should decide on.
Remind me that redaction lowers risk but doesn't remove it — follow my organization's AI and data policies.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
