Redesign provider schedule templates to improve patient access
Rebuilds provider schedule templates around real demand so new-patient wait times drop, same-day slots open, and visit types fit the day.
The prompt
Help me redesign our provider schedule templates.
Specialty and number of providers: [DETAILS - include part-time FTEs]
Current template: [PASTE or describe - session lengths, slot lengths by visit type, blocked time, admin time]
Demand data: [requests per week by visit type, third-next-available appointment by provider, same-day request volume, seasonal peaks]
Visit types and real durations: [e.g. new patient 40 min, follow-up 20 min, annual wellness, procedures]
Constraints: [room count, MA-to-provider ratio, procedure equipment, telehealth days, contract or productivity targets]
Problems we see: [e.g. new patients wait 6 weeks, providers run late every afternoon, too many unused blocked slots]
Do this:
1. Match supply to demand: estimate weekly slots needed by visit type and compare to current template supply.
2. Propose a template per provider type with slot lengths, a pattern for the day (e.g. complex visits early, buffer slots before lunch and end of day), and protected same-day or open-access slots sized from same-day demand data.
3. Set rules: how far ahead each slot type opens, when unfilled holds release, and who may override.
4. Address flow: staggered starts, rooming capacity, and MA support.
5. Show expected impact on third-next-available and visits per session, with the assumptions stated.
Return a template grid per provider type, the rules list, and a 6-week pilot plan with metrics. Mark any number you had to estimate as [ESTIMATE]. Clinical leaders should approve visit lengths for each visit type.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
