Prepare evidence and narrative for an accreditation self-study
Maps accreditation standards to evidence, finds gaps, and drafts self-study narrative sections.
The prompt
Help me prepare our accreditation self-study.
Institution type: [e.g. "community college", "K-12 private school", "nursing program"]
Accreditor and standards: [e.g. regional accreditor, programmatic accreditor; paste the standards or criteria]
Visit or submission date: [DATE]
Evidence we have: [LIST - e.g. assessment reports, program reviews, board minutes, strategic plan, budget, student outcome data]
Known weak areas or past findings: [DETAILS]
Steps:
1. Build an evidence map: for each standard, list the evidence that shows compliance, who owns it, and whether it is current.
2. Flag gaps: standards with no evidence, old evidence, or evidence that shows policy but not practice.
3. For assessment of student learning, check for the full loop: outcomes stated, assessed, results analyzed, and changes made (closing the loop).
4. Draft a narrative for [STANDARD] that makes a claim, cites evidence by name, admits a weakness, and states the improvement plan.
5. Give a timeline working back from the due date.
Rules:
- Never invent data, documents, or outcomes; use [ADD EVIDENCE] markers.
- Write in plain, factual language; reviewers want evidence, not adjectives.
Return: the evidence map table (Standard | Evidence | Owner | Status | Gap), the draft narrative, and the timeline.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
