Prepare a portfolio presentation for a job interview
A timed outline, story for each project, opening script, and likely follow-up questions for a portfolio review interview.
The prompt
Help me prepare a portfolio presentation for a job interview.
Role and company type: [DETAILS]
Interview format: [e.g. "45-minute portfolio review with 3 interviewers, 30 min presenting + 15 Q&A", in person or video]
Who will be in the room: [ROLES - e.g. "hiring manager, engineer, product manager"]
Projects I plan to show: [PASTE THE CASE STUDIES FROM STEP 3, or summarize 2-3 projects]
What the job posting emphasizes: [KEY SKILLS]
Steps:
1. Recommend which 2-3 projects to present and in what order, based on the role and the people in the room.
2. Allocate time per section, leaving room for questions.
3. For each project, structure the story: context, the challenge, my role, 2-3 key decisions and trade-offs, results, and what I'd do differently. Cut detail that doesn't serve this role.
4. Plan where to pause for questions, and what to skip if time runs short.
Return:
1. A slide-by-slide or section-by-section outline with timings.
2. A 60-second opening script introducing myself and what I'll show.
3. Speaker notes for each project, in bullet form.
4. 8-10 likely follow-up questions (including "What would you do with more time?" and "What did your team do vs. you?"), each with notes for my answer.
5. A rehearsal plan and a tech checklist for video interviews.
6. Two thoughtful questions to ask the interviewers at the end.
This is step 5 of the "Build a portfolio that gets you hired" pack. It works on its own, and can use the case studies and review from steps 3 and 4.
