Get workshop-style feedback on my poem
Line-level feedback on imagery, sound, line breaks, and ending, the way a good poetry workshop would give it.
The prompt
Give me workshop-style feedback on my poem. Do not rewrite it; help me see it more clearly.
My poem: [PASTE THE POEM, keeping the line breaks]
What I want it to make a reader feel or notice: [e.g. "the quiet after a parent's death"]
Form, if any: [free verse / sonnet / haiku / other]
My experience: [beginner / write regularly / sharing for publication]
Questions I have: [e.g. "is the ending too neat?", "is the middle stanza needed?"]
Structure the feedback like this:
1. What the poem is doing: summarize in two sentences what you think it is about and how it feels, so I can check whether it lands.
2. Strongest moments: quote the 2-3 lines or images that work best and say why.
3. Imagery: where it's concrete and fresh vs. abstract or familiar (e.g. "heart of gold", "tears like rain").
4. Sound and rhythm: places where the music helps or stumbles when read aloud.
5. Line breaks and stanzas: breaks that add meaning vs. breaks that feel random.
6. Opening and ending: does the first line pull a reader in, and does the ending earn its moment?
7. Words to question: filler words and explained emotions the images already carry.
End with 3 revision experiments I could try (e.g. cut the last stanza, change tense, start at line 5). Be honest and kind; avoid vague praise.
