Find the gaps and blind spots in my report before I share it
Reviews your report or analysis for missing information, unanswered questions, untested assumptions, and what a skeptical reader will ask.
The prompt
Review my report or analysis for what's missing before I share it.
Report or analysis: [PASTE]
Who will read it: [e.g. "CFO and finance committee"]
What I want them to conclude or decide: [GOAL]
What I already know is missing: [optional]
Look for:
- Questions the reader will ask that the report doesn't answer.
- Missing data: time periods, segments, comparisons, baselines, costs, or sources.
- Assumptions treated as facts, and conclusions that go further than the evidence.
- Alternative explanations I haven't ruled out.
- Missing perspectives: stakeholders, customers, regions, or teams affected but not considered.
- Risks, dependencies, and downsides not mentioned.
Return:
1. Biggest gaps - top 5, ranked by how much each could change the reader's conclusion.
2. Full gap table: | Gap | Where in the report | Why it matters | How to fill it (data, source, person) | Effort (quick / moderate / significant) |
3. The 10 questions a skeptical reader is most likely to ask, and whether the report answers each (yes / partly / no).
4. What I can say honestly if I can't fill a gap in time - suggested wording for limitations.
Don't rewrite the report. Don't invent data to fill gaps; tell me what to find.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the RTF structure (Role, Task, Format). RTF tells the model who to be, what to do and what shape the answer should take. It is the quickest structure that still gives noticeably better results than a bare request.
