Create a 30-day creative writing challenge with daily prompts
A month of daily writing prompts tuned to your interests and time, building skills week by week.
The prompt
Create a 30-day creative writing challenge for me.
What I like to write or want to try: [e.g. "short fiction", "poetry", "personal essays", "a mix"]
Themes or subjects I enjoy: [e.g. "nature, family, small towns, sci-fi"]
Time per day: [e.g. "15 minutes"]
My experience: [new to this / write sometimes / write often]
Skills I want to build: [e.g. "dialogue, description, endings"]
Structure the month in 4 weekly themes that build on each other (e.g. week 1 senses and detail, week 2 character, week 3 dialogue and conflict, week 4 structure and endings), plus 2 "free" days for rest or catch-up.
For each day give:
- The prompt (one or two sentences, specific enough to start immediately).
- A craft focus for that day.
- A word or time target that fits my daily time.
Also include:
- A weekly reflection question to answer on day 7, 14, 21, and 28.
- What to do with the best pieces at the end of the month (revise one, share one, keep a "seeds" file).
Return it as a table: Day | Prompt | Craft focus | Target. Keep prompts varied: mix first and third person, real memories and pure invention, very short and longer pieces.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
