Build a ramp plan that gets a new sales rep productive faster
A week-by-week ramp plan for a new rep with certifications, ramp quota, leading indicators, and manager checkpoints.
The prompt
Help me build a ramp plan for a new sales rep.
Role: [e.g. SMB AE, enterprise AE, SDR, account manager]
Rep's background: [prior sales experience, industry knowledge, what they already know]
What we sell and to whom: [PRODUCT, buyer, typical deal size and cycle]
Target time to full productivity: [e.g. 3 or 6 months]
Ramp quota policy: [e.g. 0/25/50/75/100%, or "recommend one"]
Resources available: [playbook, call recordings, LMS, buddy, SE support, territory/accounts assigned]
Create a plan with four phases: learn, shadow, do with support, do alone. For each week or phase include:
- What the rep learns (product, ICP, process, tools, competitors).
- Certifications to pass before moving on, e.g. pitch certification, demo certification, discovery role-play, CRM hygiene check. Say how each is assessed and by whom.
- Activity and pipeline milestones (leading indicators), not only bookings.
- Ramp quota for each month.
- Manager checkpoints and what to look for at each.
Also include:
- Early warning signs that ramp is off track and what to do about each.
- A day-one checklist (access, accounts, intros, calendar invites).
- A 1-page summary I can hand the rep.
Keep expectations specific and measurable. If ramp quota interacts with the comp plan, flag it for HR or finance to confirm.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
