Write a complaint that gets a problem fixed
A firm, factual complaint or dispute letter to a company, landlord, or service provider that asks for a specific remedy.
The prompt
Help me write a complaint that gets results.
To: [COMPANY / LANDLORD / SERVICE — and the department if known]
What happened (with dates): [FACTS IN ORDER]
What I've already tried: [calls, emails, reference numbers]
Impact on me: [cost, time, inconvenience]
What I want: [refund / replacement / repair / compensation / apology — be specific]
Evidence I have: [receipts, photos, emails]
Channel: [email / letter / web form / social media]
Write a complaint that:
- Opens with the issue and the exact remedy I'm requesting.
- Lays out a clear, factual timeline. No insults, no exaggeration.
- References my evidence and any order/account numbers.
- Sets a reasonable deadline for a response and states the next step if it isn't resolved (e.g. escalation, chargeback, regulator or ombudsman).
- Stays under 300 words.
Then give me a 2-sentence version for a phone call or chat, and tell me which consumer-protection body usually handles this kind of issue in [COUNTRY] so I can check it myself (I'll verify — this isn't legal advice).
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
