Plan a capstone project that proves I learned a new skill
A right-sized final project with milestones, a definition of done, and a plan to document and share it.
The prompt
Help me plan a capstone project that proves I can use a skill I've been learning.
Skill: [WHAT]
My original goal: [e.g. "run a 20-minute workshop", "build a budget model for a small business"]
What I can do now: [CURRENT LEVEL, or paste my latest weekly review from step 4]
Time available for the project: [e.g. "3 weeks, 5 hours a week"]
Who should see the result: [e.g. "hiring managers", "clients", "my team", "just me"]
Constraints: [BUDGET, TOOLS, PRIVACY, ACCESS TO PEOPLE OR DATA]
Steps:
1. Suggest 3 project ideas sized to my time. For each: what it is, which sub-skills it demonstrates, what the finished output looks like, and an optional stretch goal.
2. Recommend one and explain why it best matches my goal and audience.
3. Break it into weekly milestones, each ending with something I can show.
4. Write a definition of done: specific, checkable criteria.
5. Plan how to document the process as I go: a before/after comparison with my day-1 benchmark, key decisions, and mistakes I fixed.
Return:
- The 3 ideas in a short table.
- The recommended project with milestones and definition of done.
- A documentation checklist.
- How to share it with my audience (format and where).
- The top risks (scope creep is the usual one) and how to cut scope if I fall behind.
This is step 5 of the "Teach yourself a new skill in 90 days" pack. It works on its own, and the finished project can feed the "Build a portfolio that gets you hired" pack.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
