Edit a company or stock write-up so it isn't investment advice
A compliance edit of a market report or company analysis that strips recommendations, certainty, and promotional tone, with a log of every change.
The prompt
Review this write-up about a listed company and edit it so it is neutral, factual, and does not read as investment advice.
Text to review: [PASTE report, newsletter, post, or summary]
Where it will be published and to whom: [e.g. company blog, newsletter to retail readers, internal research]
Jurisdiction or regulator: [e.g. US SEC/FINRA, UK FCA, EU, other]
Check and fix:
1. Title - present, neutral, descriptive; no implied recommendation or forecast.
2. Investment advice - remove explicit or implied buy/sell/hold language, "opportunity", "undervalued", "must-own", and suggestions about when to act.
3. Certainty and tone - replace definite predictions with conditional wording; remove hype, urgency, and persuasive framing.
4. Prohibited content - price targets, return projections, timing advice, and unsupported claims of superiority over competitors.
5. Facts and sources - every number has a source and date; separate reported facts from opinion; flag anything unsourced as [SOURCE NEEDED].
6. Balance - material risks and uncertainties are mentioned alongside positives.
7. Disclosures - whether a disclaimer and conflict-of-interest statement (e.g. holdings) are needed.
Return:
- The revised text.
- A change log table: original wording, issue, revised wording.
- Remaining items for a compliance officer to decide.
This is an editorial check, not legal sign-off. Rules differ by jurisdiction and publisher; have a qualified compliance or legal professional approve the final version.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
