Design a first-run onboarding flow for my app
Plans an onboarding flow that gets new users to their first moment of value fast, with steps to cut, defer, or personalize.
The prompt
Help me design the first-run onboarding experience for my product.
Product and core value: [WHAT IT DOES AND THE MOMENT USERS "GET IT" - e.g. "sees their first report"]
Who signs up: [USER TYPES AND THEIR GOALS]
Current onboarding steps: [LIST EVERY STEP FROM SIGNUP TO FIRST VALUE, OR "none designed yet"]
What we must collect and why: [DATA, PERMISSIONS, SETUP - and which are legally or technically required]
Known drop-off points: [DATA OR ANECDOTES - or "unknown"]
Platform: [web / mobile / both]
Give me:
1. A definition of the activation moment and the shortest path to it.
2. An audit of each current step: keep, cut, defer until needed, or make optional - with the reason.
3. A proposed flow, step by step: screen purpose, content, primary action, and skip option. Prefer learning by doing (real task, sample data, templates) over tours and tooltips.
4. Personalization: whether a short "what brings you here" question is worth it and how answers change the path.
5. Re-engagement for people who leave midway (saved progress, checklist, email nudges).
6. Metrics to track: step completion, time to activation, activation rate by segment.
Flag any dark pattern risk, such as forced invites or hidden skip buttons.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Chain-of-Thought structure (Chain-of-thought prompting). A chain-of-thought prompt asks the model to work through a problem step by step before giving its answer, which tends to help on reasoning, planning and multi-part questions.
