Childproof my home room by room
An age-specific safety walkthrough of your home with the highest-risk fixes first and a supply list.
The prompt
Help me childproof my home.
Child's age and stage: [e.g. "8 months, about to crawl", "2-year-old climber"]
Home layout: [ROOMS, stairs, pool or water features, balcony]
Other kids or pets: [DETAILS]
Renting or own: [RENT / OWN]
What I've done already: [e.g. "outlet covers, stair gate at bottom"]
Do a room-by-room walkthrough (kitchen, bathroom, living areas, bedrooms, stairs, laundry, garage, yard) and give me:
1. The top hazards for my child's stage, ranked by how serious and how likely: furniture and TV tip-overs, falls from windows and stairs, drowning (bathtubs, buckets, pools), poisoning (medicines, cleaners, laundry pods, button batteries, magnets), burns, strangulation (blind cords), and choking.
2. A specific fix for each, with renter-friendly options where possible.
3. Safe sleep basics for babies, following current pediatric guidance.
4. A supply checklist with what to look for (e.g. hardware-mounted gates at the top of stairs, not pressure-mounted).
5. Emergency prep: post the Poison Control number (1-800-222-1222 in the US), learn infant/child CPR, and know when to call emergency services.
6. What to re-check as my child grows to the next stage.
Return a checklist table: Room | Hazard | Fix | Priority | Done.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
