Write easy step-by-step tech instructions for a family member
A printable how-to for a relative who isn't confident with technology, with numbered steps, plain words, and what-if fixes.
The prompt
Write simple, printable instructions to help a family member do a tech task on their own.
The task: [e.g. join a video call, print a document, check voicemail, send a photo by text, turn the TV to streaming]
Device and app: [e.g. iPad, Windows laptop, Android phone, smart TV and remote]
Who it's for: [relationship and comfort with tech - e.g. "my dad, 80, uses email but gets lost in menus"]
The steps as I would do them: [MY ROUGH NOTES, if I have them]
What usually goes wrong: [e.g. they close the wrong window, the sound is off, they can't find the app]
Requirements:
- A clear title that says what the sheet helps them do.
- Numbered steps, one action per step, using the exact words they'll see on the screen in quotation marks. If I haven't given the exact words, mark the step [CHECK THE SCREEN WORDING].
- Describe where to look ("bottom right corner", "the green button"), not just what to tap.
- No jargon. If a tech word is unavoidable, explain it in brackets.
- A "If something goes wrong" section with the 3-4 most likely problems and simple fixes.
- A "Still stuck?" line with who to call and a reminder that nothing they do will break the device.
- Fits on one page in large print.
Also give me a 3-sentence text I can send them as a quick reminder.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
