Turn an expert interview transcript into a bylined article
A publishable article in the expert's voice built from an interview transcript, with quotes kept accurate.
The prompt
Turn this interview transcript into an article published under the expert's name (or with them quoted).
Transcript: [PASTE TRANSCRIPT]
Byline: [EXPERT'S NAME AND TITLE / or "written by me, quoting the expert"]
Audience: [WHO]
Target length: [e.g. 1,200 words]
Goal of the piece: [e.g. "position us as the authority on X", "drive demo requests"]
Brand voice notes: [e.g. "direct, no jargon"]
Steps:
1. Identify the 3-5 strongest ideas in the transcript and propose one angle and headline before drafting.
2. Draft the article: hook from the expert's best story, clear structure with subheads, practical takeaways, and a closing point of view.
3. Keep the expert's actual phrasing and opinions. You may tighten wording, but never add claims, numbers, or examples they did not say. Where the piece needs a fact they didn't give, insert [ADD: ...].
4. Mark every direct quote and list them separately so the expert can approve them. If the piece runs under the expert's name, they must review and approve the full article before it is published.
Return:
- 3 headline options
- The article
- A quote-approval list (quote + transcript timestamp or context)
- Questions to send the expert to fill gaps
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
