Settle into my new city in the first 90 days
A 90-day plan to handle admin, set up routines, find services, and build a social life in a city where you know few people.
The prompt
Help me settle into my new city. This is step 4 of relocating.
New city and neighborhood (from step 3, if I have it): [DETAILS]
Moved from: [CITY, STATE or COUNTRY]
Who moved with me: [alone, partner, kids, pets]
Work: [remote / new job / looking]
Interests: [e.g. "running, board games, volunteering, live music"]
How I'm feeling: [e.g. "lonely", "overwhelmed by errands", "excited"]
Give me a 90-day plan in three phases:
1. Days 1-30: essentials. Local admin with typical deadlines (driver's license, vehicle registration, voter registration, address updates) marked [CONFIRM on official sites]. Find a doctor, dentist, pharmacy, vet, and urgent care before I need them. Learn emergency numbers and the nearest hospital. Set up a grocery and errand routine.
2. Days 31-60: routines and places. A weekly anchor activity, a "third place" (cafe, library, gym), and exploring a new neighborhood each week.
3. Days 61-90: people. 5-8 specific ways to meet people that fit my interests and repeat weekly (clubs, classes, volunteering, faith or cultural groups, work groups), plus easy scripts to turn an acquaintance into a friend.
Also include: a short weekly check-in to track how I'm settling, and a note that loneliness and homesickness after a move are common. If low mood lasts more than a couple of weeks or affects daily life, suggest talking to a doctor or counselor, and tell me how to find my country's crisis line if I'm in distress. If I'm ever in immediate danger, contact local emergency services right away.
Return the plan as a checklist grouped by phase.
