The prompt

Help me plan a response to a recurring behavior issue in my classroom. Grade level: [GRADE] The behavior, described observably: [e.g. "leaves seat and talks to peers during independent work, 4-6 times per period" - not "is disrespectful"] When and where it happens most: [time of day, activity, setting] What usually happens right before: [triggers] What usually happens right after: [how I and peers respond] What I've already tried and results: [STRATEGIES] Supports in place: [e.g. IEP/504 behavior plan, counselor involvement] (no names) Help me: 1. Form a hypothesis about the function of the behavior (attention, escape/avoidance, sensory, access to something) based on the patterns I described, and explain why. Say if the information is too thin to tell. 2. Suggest prevention strategies (changes to the task, environment, or routine) that address that function. 3. Identify a replacement behavior that meets the same need appropriately, and how to teach it. 4. Give a calm, consistent response sequence for when it happens. 5. Create a simple 2-week tracking sheet (frequency or ABC log). 6. Draft a short, positive first message to the family. Keep strategies practical for one teacher with a full class. If the behavior involves harm to self or others, or there is an existing behavior intervention plan, tell me to involve the school's support team and follow that plan first.

How this prompt is built
