Plan a cooking timeline for a holiday or dinner party
A reverse-scheduled cooking plan so every dish is ready on time, with make-ahead tasks and oven juggling.
The prompt
Help me plan the cooking so everything is ready at the same time.
Occasion and serving time: [e.g. "Thanksgiving dinner, eating at 4:00 pm"]
Number of guests: [NUMBER, plus any dietary needs or allergies]
Menu: [LIST EACH DISH - include recipe cook times and temperatures if you have them]
Kitchen limits: [e.g. "one oven", "4 burners", "small fridge", "no stand mixer"]
Help available: [e.g. "my partner can handle drinks and the table"]
How much I can prep ahead: [days before / morning of only]
Build:
1. A make-ahead list by day (2 days before, day before, morning of) with storage instructions.
2. A minute-by-minute timeline for the final 4 hours working backward from serving time, showing what's in the oven, on the stove, and resting. Flag oven-temperature conflicts and suggest fixes (stagger, use a slow cooker, serve at room temperature).
3. A shopping list grouped by store section, with quantities scaled to guest count.
4. Food-safety checkpoints: thawing time for any frozen meat or poultry (in the fridge, with days needed), safe internal temperatures, and keeping hot food hot and cold food cold (no more than 2 hours at room temperature).
5. Tasks I can hand to helpers or guests.
Keep it printable: a one-page timeline table with columns Time | Task | Equipment | Who.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
