Find duplicate, conflicting, and outdated information across documents
Audits a set of documents for contradictions, conflicting versions, duplicated content, and stale facts, with a fix list.
The prompt
Review the documents below for contradictions, duplicates, and outdated information.
Documents: [PASTE each one with a label - title, owner, and last-updated date if known]
What they cover: [e.g. "our expense process", "product specs", "onboarding material"]
Today's date and any known recent changes: [e.g. "approval limit rose to $5,000 in March"]
Return:
1. Contradictions - a table: | Topic | Doc and section | What it says | Conflicting doc and section | What it says | Likely current version and why | Confidence |
2. Outdated information - statements that look stale (old dates, retired systems, people, prices, superseded rules), with the reason you suspect it.
3. Duplicated content - where the same information appears in more than one place, and which document should be the single source.
4. Same thing, different names - inconsistent terms, definitions, or numbers for the same item.
5. Fix list - prioritized actions: what to update, merge, or retire, and who likely owns it.
Rules:
- Don't decide which version is correct unless the documents make it clear; otherwise mark [DECIDE] and name who should confirm.
- Point to exact sections or quotes so each issue can be checked.
- Rank by risk: conflicts that could cause wrong decisions, payments, compliance breaches, or customer errors come first.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
