Come up with a title for my story, poem, album, or artwork
A range of fitting title ideas in different styles, with reasons, plus a quick check for clashes and clichés.
The prompt
Help me find a title for my creative work.
What it is: [novel / short story / poem / song / album / painting / photo series / exhibition]
What it's about, in a few sentences: [SUMMARY or PASTE THE WORK if short]
Mood and feeling: [e.g. "wistful, funny, eerie"]
Key images, phrases, or objects in the work: [e.g. "a broken compass, the line 'we kept the porch light on'"]
Titles I've considered: [OPTIONAL]
Style I like: [e.g. "short and plain", "poetic", "a phrase from the text", "open to anything"]
Give me 15 title options grouped into styles:
- Lifted from the work itself (a phrase, image, or object).
- Short and plain (1-3 words).
- Evocative or poetic.
- Playful or unexpected.
- Genre-signaling (if it's for sale or submission).
For each, add one line on what it suggests to a reader.
Then:
1. Pick your top 3 and explain why.
2. Flag any that are clichés, give away the ending, or are hard to say or spell.
3. Remind me to search my top choices online and in book or music stores, since I can't rely on you to know every existing title.
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.
