Build a pacing guide for my course for the year or term
A week-by-week pacing calendar that fits all units, assessments, and school dates, with buffer time and priority standards.
The prompt
Help me build a pacing guide for my course.
Course and level: [e.g. "Algebra 1, 9th grade" or "Organic Chemistry I"]
Term dates: [START AND END]
Instructional days lost: [holidays, testing windows, assemblies, breaks, early releases]
Units and topics in order: [LIST, with any required texts or labs]
Fixed dates: [state tests, common assessments, midterms, finals, project due dates]
Priority standards or outcomes: [the must-teach items, if any]
Meeting pattern: [e.g. "daily 50 minutes", "MWF 75 minutes", "block schedule A/B"]
Do the following:
1. Count actual instructional days available and show the math.
2. Allocate days to each unit based on content load and priority, including assessment and review days.
3. Build in 1 buffer day per 2-3 weeks for reteach and disruptions.
4. Check that content needed for any fixed test is taught before that date.
5. If the plan doesn't fit, show me options: what to compress, combine, or move to independent work, and the trade-off of each.
Return a week-by-week table: Week | Dates | Unit | Topics | Assessments | Notes. Then a short list of risks (e.g. "Unit 5 lands right before spring break"). Mark any date I didn't give you as [CONFIRM].
Highlighted [brackets] are blanks to replace with your own details.

How this prompt is built
This prompt follows the Few-Shot structure (Few-shot prompting). A few-shot prompt includes one or more worked examples of the input and the output you want, so the model can copy the pattern instead of guessing it.
